Ingredients
- 2 lb. ground meat (extra lean)
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1/2 c. celery, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, chopped
- 1 can tomatoes, mashed
- 1 can kidney beans with liquid
- 1 can chili beans with liquid
- 3 to 4 c. shredded cabbage
- salt and pepper to taste
Method
- Put meat, onion, pepper and celery in Dutch oven and steam covered over medium heat until meat turns white, breaking up meat with fork as you stir occasionally.
- Add tomatoes, beans, salt and pepper.
- Bring to boil; add cabbage, pushing cabbage just under liquid.
- Cover and simmer 20 to 30 minutes; adjust seasonings. Freezes well.
