Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground meat
  • 1/4 c. chopped onion
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 small head cabbage
  • 6 potatoes, pared
  • 2 c. tomato juice

Method

  • In skillet, lightly brown meat with onion and seasonings; drain off fat.
  • Set aside.
  • In buttered casserole (2 to 2 1/2-quart), cut cabbage in medium size shreds to cover bottom of dish. Add about 4 layers of sliced potatoes (about 6 medium size). Arrange the browned meat over the potatoes.
  • Pour tomato juice over the meat.
  • Cover and bake 1 to 1 1/2 hours in a 350° oven. Serves 6.
