Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. butter or margarine
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 c. rolled oats
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. chopped nuts

Method

  • Sift together flour, salt and soda.
  • Cream butter, sugars and eggs, creaming well.
  • Blend dry ingredients gradually to butter mixture.
  • Stir in rolled oats and chopped nuts.
  • Chill 1 hour. Divide dough in half.
  • Shape into rolls 1 1/2-inch in diameter. Wrap in foil and chill 2 hours to overnight.
  • Cut into slices about 1/4-inch thick and place on greased baking sheets.
  • Bake at 325° to 350° for 10 to 12 minutes.
  • Cool on cake rack.
  • Makes 6 to 8 dozen.
