Ingredients
- 3 c. sugar
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 c. light corn syrup
- 3 c. pecans, chopped coarsely
- 3 Tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Method
- Combine sugar, buttermilk, soda and corn syrup in very large saucepan and bring to soft boil (234° to 238° on candy thermometer).
- Just before removing from heat, add pecans.
- Remove from heat; add butter and vanilla.
- Beat until mixture loses its gloss and holds its shape.
- Drop on wax paper in mounds.
- Makes about 5 dozen.
