Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 c. sifted flour
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 c. salad oil
  • 1 c. buttermilk

Method

  • Sift flour, baking powder, sugar, salt and soda together. Pour oil into the buttermilk and add the liquids to the dry ingredients.
  • Mix to make a soft dough.
  • Turn out on a floured board.
  • Gently roll out to 3/4 inch thick; cut with small biscuit cutter.
  • Place on a slightly greased pan close together.
  • Bake at 425° for about 12 minutes.
  • Makes 12 to 16 biscuits.
