Ingredients

  • 1 c. currants
  • 1 c. chopped dates
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 1/2 c. oleo
  • 1 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • nuts
  • 1/4 tsp. salt

Method

  • Pour boiling water over the fruit.
  • Add soda and oleo and stir well.
  • Let stand until completely cold.
  • Add rest of ingredients and mix well.
  • Grease and flour 7 (No. 303) cans.
  • Fill 1/2 full; bake at 325° for 30 to 35 minutes.
  • Test with toothpick.
  • If not brown enough, raise heat.
  • Hit side of can with hand to loosen. Remove from can for cooling.
