Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. raisins
- 1 1/2 c. water
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 1/4 c. flour
Method
- Boil raisins and water until raisins swell.
- Cream together shortening, sugar and salt.
- Add egg and vanilla to creamed mixture.
- Add cooled raisins and water to mixture.
- Add flour. Mix and pour into 3 (3 ounce) vegetable cans, about 3/4 full. Bake at 350° for 45 to 60 minutes.
- Add nuts or candied fruit if desired.
