Ingredients

  • 6 slices bread
  • 1 lb. ground sausage
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped onion
  • 4 Tbsp. chopped green pepper
  • 6 eggs
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 c. shredded mild Cheddar cheese

Method

  • Lightly grease 9 x 13-inch casserole dish.
  • Tear bread into bite-sized pieces.
  • Place in bottom of dish.
  • Brown sausage; add onion and pepper.
  • Cook until tender and meat is done.
  • Drain and set aside.
  • Mix eggs, milk and seasonings.
  • Beat well.
  • Sprinkle sausage mixture over bread pieces.
  • Top with cheese; pour egg/milk mixture over all.
  • Cover and refrigerate at least 8 to 10 hours. Preheat oven to 350°.
  • Bake 30 to 40 minutes, uncovered, or until puffy or eggs are set.
