Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. oleo
  • 1 1/4 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. sugar
  • garlic salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2/3 c. milk
  • Parmesan cheese

Method

  • Melt oleo in oven in a 9 x 9-inch pan.
  • Mix dry ingredients. Stir just enough milk in until dough forms (about 30 strokes). Turn dough onto floured surface.
  • Roll dough in flour to coat. Knead lightly, about 10 times.
  • Roll into 8-inch square.
  • With floured knife, cut dough in half, then cut each half into 9 (4-inch) strips.
  • Dip each strip into melted oleo, coating each side.
  • Arrange strips close together in pan.
  • Sprinkle with garlic salt and Parmesan cheese, if desired.
  • Bake 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown at 425°.
