Ingredients

  • 4 c. coarse bread crumbs (leftover biscuits)
  • 2 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. melted butter
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • nutmeg

Method

  • Butter a 1 1/2-quart casserole or 9 x 13-inch pan.
  • Beat eggs in large bowl; add sugar, salt and butter and mix well.
  • Add warm milk and vanilla.
  • Add bread crumbs and pour into buttered pan. Sprinkle generously with nutmeg and bake in 350° oven for 30 minutes or so.
  • Put a silver knife in the pudding about an inch from the edge.
  • If blade comes out clean, pudding is done.
  • Serve warm with lemon sauce.
