Ingredients

  • 1 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. Bran Buds (brand name)
  • 1/2 c. margarine or butter
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1 c. oatmeal
  • small can crushed pineapple, drained (optional)
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla or almond flavoring
  • 2 c. 100% bran cereal (All-Bran)
  • 3/4 c. raisins (optional)
  • 3/4 c. chopped nuts (optional)

Method

  • Pour boiling water over Bran Buds.
  • Set aside.
  • Cream margarine and sugars for 2 minutes. Add eggs.
  • Continue mixing for 30 seconds.
  • Add buttermilk and continue mixing for 1 minute. Scrape bowl.
