Ingredients

  • 8 eggs
  • 3 c. sugar
  • 1 lb. butter
  • 3 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c. bourbon
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. almond extract
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Method

  • Preheat oven to 325°.
  • Separate egg yolks from whites.
  • Beat egg whites until stiff; set aside.
  • Mix butter, sugar, yolks and all flavorings in large bowl.
  • Mix in flour.
  • Fold in egg whites. Butter pans(s).
  • Sprinkle 1/2 nuts on bottom of pan(s).
  • Add batter, then rest of nuts on top.
  • Bake for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, 1 to 1 1/2-inches off oven floor.
