Ingredients

  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 6 Tbsp. shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. milk
  • 1 c. fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Method

  • Cream the sugar, shortening and egg.
  • Mix flour, baking powder and salt.
  • Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk, beating until well mixed.
  • Place in greased deep 7 x 10-inch pan. Sprinkle blueberries on top.
  • Mix the brown sugar, cinnamon and butter.
  • Sprinkle on top of blueberries.
  • Take a knife and gently run it through dough lengthwise and crosswise, working part of the topping into the batter.
  • Sprinkle top with nuts.
  • Bake at 350° for 45 minutes.
  • Serve warm or cold.
