Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1 c. warm water (115~)
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3/4 c. canola oil
  • 2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 5 to 8 c. self-rising flour

Method

  • Dissolve yeast in water, add rest of ingredients and mix until dough makes a ball.
  • Knead lightly until smooth.
  • Pinch off dough into little balls to make biscuits.
  • Place in iron skillet with a little oil in bottom, turn dough once to have oily side up.
  • Bake at 425° for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  • This dough will keep in refrigerator up to 3 weeks.
