Ingredients
- 2 c. self-rising flour
- 1/8 tsp. baking powder
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 Tbsp. margarine, melted
Method
- Combine first three ingredients in a large bowl.
- Cut in shortening with a pastry cutter until shortening is the size of peas.
- Add buttermilk, stirring until moistened.
- Dough will resemble cottage cheese, but sticky.
- Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead 4 or 5 times.
