Ingredients

  • 9 to 10 apples
  • 1 c. apple cider
  • 2 tsp. apple pie spice or 1/2 tsp. nutmeg, 1/2 tsp. allspice and 1 tsp. cinnamon

Method

  • Peel and core apples and cut into 1-inch pieces.
  • Place in a large saucepan and pour cider over them.
  • Cover and cook 30 minutes over low heat or until the apples are soft.
  • Cool.
  • Puree apples in blender.
  • Put into a large baking dish; sprinkle with spices and stir well.
  • Bake at 300° for 2 to 3 hours or until it is deep brown and thick.
  • Cool and put in tight fitting jar. Makes 1 1/2 cups.
