- 1 1/2 lb. round steak
- 1 beaten egg
- 1/3 c. Parmesan cheese
- 1/3 c. fine dry bread crumbs
- 1 medium onion, minced
- 1/2 lb. Mozzarella cheese
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1/4 tsp. oregano
- 1/2 tsp. marjoram
- 1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
- 2 c. hot water
Method
- Cut steak into serving pieces and pound to 1/4-inch thick.
- Dip in egg and roll in mixture of Parmesan cheese and bread crumbs. Brown steak in oil, then place in baking dish.
- Cook onion in same skillet until tender.
- Stir in salt, pepper, sugar, oregano, marjoram and tomato paste.
- Add hot water.
- Cook 5 minutes.
- Pour most of sauce over steak.
- Top with slices of Mozzarella cheese, then rest of sauce.
- Cover and bake at 350° for 1 hour or until tender.
- Add water if needed.
- Serve over noodles, spaghetti or rice.
