- 1 c. all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. margarine
- 1/2 c. firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 1/4 c. dark corn syrup
- 2 large egg whites
- 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 c. miniature chocolate chips
- 2 Tbsp. finely chopped pecans
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Lightly coat 8-inch square baking pan with vegetable cooking spray.
- Combine flour, baking powder and salt in bowl.
- Beat margarine, sugar and corn syrup in mixer bowl at medium speed.
- Beat in egg whites and vanilla until well blended.
- At low speed, gradually add dry ingredients until just combined.
- Stir in chocolate chips.
- Spread batter in prepared pan and sprinkle top with nuts.
- Bake 25 to 30 minutes, until top is golden and toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
- Cool in pan on wire rack.
- Cut into squares.
- Makes 16.
