Ingredients
- 1 small ham bone, finely chop ham from bone
- 1 pkg. Great Northern beans
- 1 small or medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 or 4 strips bacon, diced (raw)
- 2 chopped carrots
- 1 stalk celery
- 1 or 2 potatoes
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1 small can tomatoes (juice if needed)
- 1 Tbsp. parsley
Method
- Wash beans thoroughly (about 2 times).
- Remove any bad ones as well as any "junk" that floats to the top.
- Drain.
- Add about 6 cups of water to the beans.
- Cover.
- Bring to a boil 2 to 3 minutes.
- Remove from heat.
- Do not remove cover; let set for 1 hour.
