Ingredients
- 2 slices bacon or ham, chopped
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 stalk celery, chopped
- 4 c. water
- 1 (16 oz.) can navy beans (undrained)
- 1 (16 oz.) can pinto beans (undrained)
- 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 1 c. Minute rice
Method
- In a large pan, cook and stir meat, onion and celery until tender.
- Add water, beans, tomato sauce, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
- Cover; bring to a boil.
- Stir in rice.
- Replace cover; remove from heat.
- Let stand 5 minutes.
- Makes 8 cups.
