Ingredients
- 1 c. milk
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
- 2 Tbsp. flour
Method
- Melt butter and blend in flour in the top of a double boiler and let simmer for a few minutes to remove the raw flour taste. Stir milk in gradually, using a spoon or whisk.
- Continue stirring until mixture thickens and comes to a boil.
- Add salt and allow sauce to cook over hot water about 5 minutes.
- For cream sauce, add cream instead of milk.
