Ingredients

  • 1 tin evaporated milk
  • 1 tin water
  • 1 tin condensed milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 level Tbsp. custard powder
  • vanilla essence
  • 1 tsp. gelatin
  • 1/4 c. water

Method

  • Mix custard powder with a little cold milk.
  • Add to evaporated milk with slightly beaten eggs.
  • Cook over boiling water in a double boiler until mixture coats spoon.
  • Add 1 teaspoon gelatin dissolved in 1/4 cup cold water while the custard is hot.
  • Remove from heat; cool and add condensed milk or sugar if necessary. Flavor with vanilla or mixed essence.
  • Chill and freeze or churn in freezer.
  • Excellent served with either fruit cocktail, flaked coconut, peaches, pears or chocolate sauce.
