Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. tomato juice
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • 2 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. powdered mustard
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 3/4 c. vinegar
  • 4 1/2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 Tbsp. salad oil
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 small onion, chopped fine
  • dash of garlic salt
  • 1/4 c. catsup (if desired)
  • 1 fryer or equal selected pieces

Method

  • Combine ingredients and heat for 10 minutes. While sauce is heating, prepare fryer as though frying (salt, dredge and brown in small amount of fat).
  • Pour sauce over chicken. Cover and cook on top of range or uncovered in oven at 300° for 1 1/2 hours.
  • Turn chicken several times during cooking.
