Ingredients

  • 3 bananas
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/8 tsp. salt
  • 1/3 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla flavoring
  • vanilla wafers

Method

  • Cream sugar and butter.
  • Add egg yolks (slightly beaten), flour and milk.
  • Cook in top of double boiler until thickened. Cool.
  • Add vanilla flavoring and mix.
  • Add sliced bananas to batter.
  • Line bottom of dish with crushed vanilla wafers about 1/2-inch thick.
  • Place wafers all around sides of dish.
  • Pour mixture into dish and top with meringue.
