Ingredients

  • 10 slices bread, cut crusts off and cut slices into cubes
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp. dry mustard
  • 2 c. milk
  • dash of cayenne pepper
  • 2 c. grated medium Cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • few drops of Worcestershire sauce (optional)

Method

  • Put layer of cheese and layer of bread in large casserole dish.
  • Continue layers, ending with cheese.
  • Mix eggs, milk, mustard and salt (pepper and Worcestershire sauce).
  • Beat until well mixed.
  • Pour liquid over layers and allow to stand at least 10 hours in refrigerator.
  • Remove from refrigerator 1 hour prior to baking time.
  • Bake in 350° oven for 1 hour.
  • Serves 7 or 8 people.
