Ingredients

  • 1 large onion
  • 1 salt to taste
  • 1 pepper to taste
  • 2 strips bacon
  • 1 butter or margarine (the amount depends on the size of your onion and the onion well)

Method

  • Peel the skin off of the onion.
  • Core out the center, but not all the way through, to make a well in the onion.
  • Load up the well with butter or margarine.
  • Wrap the bacon strips around the onion to cross over the well.
  • Season with salt and pepper.
  • Wrap in aluminium foil and twist the top of the foil to close tight.
  • Toss on the fire and cook until soft.
