Ingredients

  • 1 lb. can chopped tomatoes (undrained)
  • 3 Tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 1 large green pepper, chopped
  • 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 c. uncooked long grain rice
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp. marjoram
  • 1/4 tsp. basil
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper

Method

  • In oil, saute onion and ground pepper until tender; add ground beef and brown well.
  • Stir in remaining ingredients.
  • Pour into greased 2-quart casserole.
  • Bake, covered, in preheated 350° oven for 45 minutes.
  • Uncover and bake 15 additional minutes.
  • Serves 6 to 8.
