Ingredients
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 c. hot water
- 1/3 c. shortening
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- flour
Method
- Combine yeast, 1/2 cup warm water and 1 teaspoon sugar and let rise until makes 1 cup.
- In a large bowl, mix 1 cup hot water, shortening, 1/4 cup sugar, salt and flour.
- Cool to lukewarm.
- Add yeast mixture and enough flour to make a stiff dough.
- Let rest 5 minutes.
- Knead until elastic, about 10 minutes.
- Put in greased bowl and let rise until double in bulk.
- Punch down.
- Make into rolls.
- Let rise and bake at 350°.
