Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla flavoring
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 (9-inch) deep dish pie shell
  • nutmeg (optional)

Method

  • Combine eggs, salt and flavoring.
  • Beat, beat, beat until mixture begins to look thick.
  • Gradually add sugar and beat constantly.
  • Scald milk and pour into mixture, stirring as you pour milk in.
  • Pour into unbaked pie shell.
  • This will seem to be too much, but add it all.
  • It does not bubble or run over.
  • Bake for 40 to 50 minutes at 350°.
  • The pie will shake like jello when done. Sprinkle top with nutmeg if desired.
