Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1/2 c. butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. applesauce

Method

  • In a mixing bowl, cream sugar and butter.
  • Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Combine dry ingredients; add to the creamed mixture alternately with applesauce.
  • Mix just until combined.
  • Fill greased or paper-lined muffin cups 2/3 full. Bake at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Cool on a wire rack.
  • Yield: about 1 1/2 dozen.
