Ingredients

  • 12 x Tart cooking apples
  • 2 c. Dry red wine
  • 1 c. Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • 2 slc Lemon (optional)

Method

  • Core, peel, and quarter apples.
  • Combine wine and sugar in crockpot, stir well.
  • Add in apple quarters.
  • Stir well to coat apples with wine mix.
  • Add in nutmeg and lemon slices.
  • Cover and cook on low setting for 8-12 hrs (high 2-3 hrs).
  • Transfer apples and liquid to a refrigerator container and refrigeratewell.
  • Serve in sherbet glasses.
  • Yield: about 3 qts
