Ingredients

  • 14 cup honey
  • 14 cup brown sugar
  • 2 apples
  • 34 cup sugar
  • 12 cup light corn syrup
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 12 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 12 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 14 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 12 teaspoon salt
  • 2 14 cups flour

Method

  • combine honey and brown sugar in a frying pan.
  • cook over medium heat until it dissolves, 2 to 3 minute stir often and add apples (cored, thinly sliced) to the pan.
  • cook for about 4 min until apples soften.
  • remove from heat.
  • wrap the bottom and outer sides of a 9 inch spring form pan with foil.
  • lightly spray inside surface.
  • transfer the apple mixture to the pan and arrange the slices into an even layer.
  • put the sugar and corn syrup into a large bowl and beat with an electric mixer.
  • add the egg white and beat until smooth, beat in applesauce and buttermilk at high speed for 1 min more.
  • the mixture should have a slight froth.
  • combine the remaining ingredients then add to the batter in a large bowl and mix until smooth.
  • spread evenly over apples.
  • bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minute.
