Ingredients
- 2 c. flour
- 3/4 c. shortening
- 2 Tbsp. water
- 1 c. sugar
- 1 c. water
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 beaten egg
- 6 c. apples, sliced
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
Method
- Sift flour and salt into bowl and cut in shortening.
- Combine egg and 2 tablespoons water.
- Mix with flour mixture until moistened.
- Roll out 1/2 dough and pat in pan.
- Fill with apples. Combine sugar and cornstarch in pan.
- Blend in 1 cup water and cook until thickened.
- Stir constantly.
- Pour over apples and sprinkle with cinnamon.
- Place rolled dough over top, sealing edges.
- Cut slits for steam to escape.
- Bake at 450° for 10 minutes, then 350° for 20 to 30 minutes.
- Frost when nearly cool.
