Ingredients

  • crisco canola oil (for frying)
  • 12 cup granulated sugar
  • 34 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 12 cup maple syrup or 12 cup table syrup
  • 14 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • 12 cup milk
  • 1 medium apple, peeled, cored and chopped to make 1 cup
  • 1 tablespoon crisco canola oil
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 14 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 14 teaspoon salt

Method

  • Heat 2-3 inches of oil to 365F in deep fryer or deep saucpan.
  • CINNAMON SUGAR: While oil heats, combine sugar and cinnamon in a resealable food storage bag.
  • SPICED SYRUP: Mix syrup and cinnamon and heat in a microwave safe bowl or on low heat in a saucepan.
  • Keep warm while peparing fritters.
  • BATTER: Combine egg and milk in large bowl.
  • Stir in apple and oil.
  • Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon and salt in another bowl.
  • add to egg mixture.
  • Stir until just mixed.
  • Drop by Tablespoonfuls a few at a time into hot oil.
  • Fry about 4 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Turn as needed for even browning.
  • Remove with slottled spoon.
  • Drain on paper towels.
  • Gently shake fritters in cinnamon sugar mixture.
  • Place in a shallow serving bowl.
  • Drizzle with warm syrup.
  • Serve warm.
