Ingredients
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 2 1/2 c. self-rising flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. buttermilk
Method
- Dissolve yeast in warm water; set aside. Combine dry ingredients in a mixing bowl; cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add buttermilk, mixing well. Add yeast mixture; mix until dough forms a ball.
- Cover and chill overnight.
