Ingredients
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 Tbsp. warm water
- 5 to 5 1/2 c. flour
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 c. shortening
- 2 c. buttermilk
Method
- Dissolve yeast in water. Stir dry ingredients together, cut in shortening, add yeast and buttermilk. Knead dough until it holds together. Roll dough to 3/4 inch thick. Cut out, then fold in half. Bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes.
