Ingredients
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. buttermilk
Method
- Dissolve the yeast in warm water and set aside.
- Cut shortening into the dry ingredients.
- Stir in the buttermilk and the water-yeast mixture.
- Blend thoroughly.
- Refrigerate or make into biscuits.
- Let the biscuits rise slightly and bake in a 400° oven until lightly browned.
