Ingredients

  • 2/3 c. shortening
  • 1 2/3 c. sugar
  • 3 x Large eggs
  • 1 c. Amish batter
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2/3 c. cocoa
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking pwdr
  • 3/4 c. cool water
  • 1 c. nuts minced

Method

  • Cream shortening and sugar.
  • Add in Large eggs, Amish batter and vanilla.
  • Beat 2 min on medium speed.
  • In a separate bowl, combine cocoa, baking soda, salt, flour and baking pwdr Add in flour mix to batter alternately with cool water.
  • Beat 1 minute on medium speed.
  • Fold in nuts by hand.
  • Pour into greased and floured 9x12 pan.
  • Bake at 375 F 30-40 min.
