Ingredients
- 1 medium head cabbage, shredded
- 2 large red onions, thinly sliced into rings
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 3/4 c. oil
- 1 tsp. celery seed
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. red wine vinegar
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
Method
- Alternate layers of cabbage and onions in bowl.
- Sprinkle with 3/4 cup sugar; do not mix!
- Bring vinegar, oil, 2 tablespoons of sugar, celery seed and salt to a boil in saucepan.
- Pour over layers; do not mix.
- Chill for 12 hours or longer.
- Drain to serve.
