Ingredients
- 5 large eggs, separated
- 1/2 c. cold water
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1/4 tsp. salt
Method
- Separate eggs 1 hour before making cake.
- Beat egg yolks well. Beat 1/2 cup cold water into the egg yolks.
- Add the sugar gradually and beat after each addition.
- Add the flour, baking powder and salt (sifted together), gradually folding in each addition.
- Add vanilla.
