Ingredients

  • 1 qt. milk
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • small pkg. all-purpose flour

Method

  • Mix first 6 ingredients together and bring to boil.
  • Let cool until lukewarm.
  • Stir warm water and yeast together.
  • Mix with first mixture and add a small package of all-purpose flour.
  • Stir together and mix well.
  • Cover and let rise in a warm place.
  • Add salt, baking soda and baking powder.
  • Mix well and put in refrigerator until ready to use.
