Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. softened butter
  • 1/3 c. molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 c. whole wheat flour
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. ginger
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon

Method

  • Beat sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
  • Add molasses and egg; blend well.
  • Stir in all-purpose flour and wheat flour, baking soda, salt, ginger and cinnamon.
  • Mix well.
  • If necessary, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for easier handling.
  • Heat oven to 350°.
  • Roll out and cut on lightly floured surface.
  • Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Bake at 350° for 6 to 9 minutes.
  • Cool 1 minute.
  • Remove from cookie sheet and cool completely before decorating.
