Ingredients

  • 3 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. sour cream
  • 1/2 c. white corn syrup
  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c. coarsely chopped walnuts

Method

  • Combine first 5 ingredients in saucepan.
  • Bring to boil slowly, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  • Boil without stirring over medium heat to 236°.
  • Remove from heat and let stand 15 minutes.
  • Do not stir.
  • Add vanilla; beat until mixture starts to lose gloss (about 8 minutes).
  • Stir in nuts and quickly pour into buttered pan.
  • Cool and cut into squares.
