Ingredients

  • 1 c. vinegar
  • 2 c. water
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 c. flour
  • water
  • single crust for 9-inch pie

Method

  • Combine vinegar, water and sugar and bring to a boil.
  • Add butter and stir until it melts.
  • Mix the flour with a little of the cold water until smooth.
  • Add slowly to the boiling liquid and stir until thickened.
  • Pour filling into pastry lined pie pan.
  • Cover with strips of pastry in a crisscross fashion.
  • Bake at 450° for 16 minutes.
  • Reduce heat to 350° and bake 20 minutes longer.
