Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt iodized
  • 1 1/2 cups cane sugar unbleached
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • chocolate chips

Method

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees
  • Lightly oil cookie sheets (or just use parchment paper)
  • Mix dry ingredients
  • Mix wet ingredients
  • Combine and add chocolate chips
  • Shape dough into two 3-inch wide logs, about 3/4 in thick; with the ends squared off
  • Place them on cookie sheets
  • Bake for 25 min
  • Take it out and let cool for 15 min
  • Slice into strips
  • Turn them on sides and put back in over for 10 min
