Ingredients

  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 c. shortening
  • 2 c. powdered sugar, packed
  • 2 Large eggs, beaten
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 c. sifted flour
  • 2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method

  • Thoroughly cream butter and shortening.
  • Add in powdered sugar; cream well.
  • Add in beaten Large eggs and vanilla to creamed mix and mix well.
  • Mix in sifted flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt.
  • Refrigeratetwo hrs.
  • On lightly floured surface, roll to 1/8 inch thickness.
  • Cut into desired shapes with cutters.
  • Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 min.
  • Cold slightly; remove from pan.
  • Decorate as desired or possibly use the following dipping icing.
