Ingredients

  • 3 c. water
  • 3/4 c. uncooked regular grits
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 c. (6 oz.) shredded low-fat Cheddar cheese
  • 1/8 tsp. hot sauce
  • 1/3 c. egg substitute
  • vegetable cooking spray

Method

  • Bring water to a boil in medium saucepan. Add grits.
  • Cover, reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Add salt and next 3 ingredients, stirring until cheese melts. Stir a small amount of hot grits into egg substitute; add to remaining grits, stirring constantly.
  • Pour mixture into a 1-quart baking dish coated with vegetable spray. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes or until mixture is set.
