Ingredients
- 5 c. flour (all-purpose)
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 3/4 c. warm water (only as warm as your hand can stand)
Method
- Mix flour, salt, baking powder and shortening together.
- Pour small amount of warm water into flour.
- Knead flour together. Only add enough water to where the flour stays together and forms a ball.
- Preheat wrought iron skillet or some form of baking utensil on top of the stove.
- Make small, round balls; roll out with rolling pin into a circle.
- Cook in wrought iron skillet at a medium to high flame.
- Cook on both sides.
- Flip tortillas with tongs or fork.
- Serves 6 to 8 persons.
