Ingredients

  • 2 c. (1 lb.) butter
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 4 c. flour
  • 5 c. oatmeal, whirred into powder
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 24 oz. chocolate chips
  • 1 (8 oz.) plain Hershey bar, ground or chopped in blender
  • 3 c. chopped nuts (any kind)

Method

  • Cream the butter, sugar and brown sugar.
  • Add the eggs and vanilla.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder and baking soda.
  • Mix all ingredients together.
  • Add the chocolate chips, Hershey bar and chopped nuts.
  • Place golf ball size cookies 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • (Dough is stiff; roll balls of dough rather than drop from spoon. Flatten balls slightly before baking for bigger, flatter cookies.) Bake at 375° for 6 to 10 minutes.
  • They should still be a little soft.
  • Makes 112 to 125 cookies.
