Ingredients
- 1 lb. stewing beef
- 1/2 tsp. oregano
- 2 cloves garlic
- 3 onions
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/4 Tbsp. sugar or sugar substitute
- 1/4 c. catsup
- 1/2 c. red wine (optional)
- 1 beef bouillon cube
- 1 1/2 c. water
- vegetables (carrots and potatoes)
Method
- Brown meat in butter; remove and then brown the onions.
- Add meat, minced garlic and onions in pot with bouillon cube, water, catsup and seasoning.
- Cook for 1 1/2 hours.
- Then add wine and vegetables and cook for 1/2 hour longer.
- This can be served as is or serve over buttered noodles and sprinkle with poppy seed.
